I was raised in Gary, Indiana — a steel city built on pride, faith, and unconditional Black love. I watched the mills close, watched crack fracture a community, and lived the street life that nearly took mine. A jammed gun and a mother’s decision gave me a second chance. I’ve spent every year since building on it: as a husband, a father, a letter carrier, and now an author.

I don’t speak from theory. I speak from lived experience — and I bring Gary with me everywhere I go.
